Alex Macpherson

Alex is Head of Ventures at Octopus Investments, taking overall responsibility for the team’s investments with a view to maximizing the returns that are generated. Octopus Ventures is a London and New York based venture capital firm focused on identifying unusually talented entrepreneurs intent on building businesses that can scale explosively.  Alex founded Katalyst Ventures with his colleagues in 2000, the private angel network which would later be known as the Octopus Venture Partners. Over seven years, Alex led the business as CEO until its sale to Octopus in August 2007, having invested in more than 60 early stage companies.
